The Alum Ridge Boys & Ashlee–Wednesday, December 16 door opens at 7, music at 7:30
Five musicians from the North Carolina hills who play old-time music like it never went out of style. They mix in bluegrass and early country and write tunes that sound like they’ve been around for a hundred years. The harmony singing gets under your skin, and the fiddle and banjo get your feet moving whether you planned on it or not. They’re not hobbyists: they’re pros, having won contests at Galax and Mount Airy, the fiddlers’ conventions where players and audiences go to find out who’s really got it. This is the real thing—deep roots, no gimmicks, and plenty of kick. Wednesday, December 16. Got anything better going on? You don’t! Listen to some tunes here.
