Kendl Winter–Sunday, December 9
Kendl Winter grew up in Arkansas and fell in love with Olympia, Washington before she moved there after high school. When she is not on the road touring her music or hitting some local trail, she is buoyed in Puget Sound aboard her houseboat “Dandelion.” She is one half of the banjo / guitar duo The Lowest Pair, longtime Fifth Street favorites. Kendl has a magical voice all her own, and she’s a strong, sensitive and delicate banjo and guitar player.
Most of the songs on her latest recording, “Stumbler’s Business,” were written in the rare still spaces between places on tour. Exploring tensions, seeking understanding, finding love, getting lost. Her banjo speaks its own language—it sings what hasn’t been said. In Kendl’s words, the album’s about “falling and catching yourself, scraping your knees, climbing out of the piles, trying again, knowing that stumbling is a part of growing, forgetting, learning again, and again.”
We’re among Kendl’s biggest fans. Check out some videos here.
